From the email era. This went out as a plain email — not on LinkedIn — to a work distribution list. Signature blocks, phone numbers and work links have been removed, and colleagues are referred to by role rather than by name. The writing is unchanged.

Happy Faux-Aloha Friday!

On this day in 1990 the world lost one of its most creative writers when Roald Dahl passed away. Roald Dahl is famous for the fantastical tales of children interacting with the seemingly unintelligible world. Charlie Bucket, Matilda Wormwood, James Henry Trotter, “The Boy” in the The Witches, though each of his characters endure hardships, they were always grateful for what they had and persevered through said hardships. Here are some Roald Dahl | Fun Facts for you to sift through.

Every year as Thanksgiving approaches, time honored traditions are followed, new ones are forged, and memoires are forever made. My favorite time honored tradition for Thanksgiving is searching across the FM stations, traveling from family house to family house in the car, feverishly listening for Arlo Guthrie’s Alice's Restaurant. Historically, radio stations, on Thanksgiving, have played this Opus in its entirety due to its reference to Thanksgiving. It is an 18 minute masterpiece of musical parody protest poetry and worth a listen.

I also want to express my sincere gratitude to this team and communicate how fortunate I am to know each of you. The selfless nature and focus on elevating each other is a perpetuating form of positive energy and motivates me to be better every day!

Mahalo Nui!

Matthew
