From the email era. This went out as a plain email — not on LinkedIn — to a work distribution list. Signature blocks, phone numbers and work links have been removed, and colleagues are referred to by role rather than by name. The writing is unchanged.

Happy Aloha Friday,

May marks the beginning of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. There is so much tradition to be found from this culture and I was fortunate enough to be immersed in it for many years. From the Annual Merry Monarch Hula Festival to the celebration of Kaumualii Day on Kauai, tradition draped itself around much of the daily life on the Hawaiian Islands. I urge you to do a little recon this month and learn something new about the rich history of the AAPI culture.

Here is Bruddah Iz for someAloha Inspiration and Queen Lili’uokalani’s own Aloha Oe (Farewell to Thee).

Also, necessary to point out, a birthday celebration this weekend of one of our own! Casey Cameron will be celebrating a birthday on Sunday and what better platform to share this then right here. Legend has it (though there is no actual proof) that during a pick up basketball game in the northeast some years ago, Diana Taurasi tried to take the baseline as Casey was guarding her. Not having any of it, Casey picked her pocket like some sleight of hand street magician and onlookers were reported to have heard Casey whisper as it happened, “Easier than taking candy from a baby!” Happy Birthday Casey!
